Last Saturday, St. Faith’s Church, Kuching’s Children Ministry held its annual Children Christmas Party here, Saturday afternoon. The theme this year is taken from Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
The children ensemble along with the praise and worship team opened the party celebration with Christmas themed worship songs. Sunday school member, Farah Anne Dhaliwal, 10, said the opening prayer.
Organizing Chairlady, Sis. Lee Na from the Chinese Ministry presented the message, “What is Christmas?” Sis. Lee Na talked about the birth of Jesus, salvation, peace and joy. “Jesus loves you,” she reminded the children. As Christians, we have to learn how to share. Sharing does not mean taking what others give, she told the children. Along with her message, the Chinese Ministry team also did a short skit about relationship and sharing with others.
“God does not ask you to do hard things,” said Sis. Lee Na. Just do simple things like smiling, say thank you, help your mom, look after your little brothers or sisters and pray for your family and friends, she continued. The skit ended with a message from John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.”
“Thank you for having this Christmas party. My children really enjoyed coming here,” said one happy mother, who attends St. Thomas Cathedral. She also pointed out that her children also came for the Prayer Camp last month at the church. “It’s good, good, good. I like it,” said 12 year old, Brandon, who has been coming to the annual children’s party since he was small. The children also played several team games.
The Vicar of St. Faith, Canon Reverend Nelson Ugas closed the party with a note two the children. About 200 children from St. Faith’s Church and other parishes attended the party this year. Invited guests from the Boys Home and Kuching Autistic Association were also in attendance.
