I was the captain of my soul
The stars above were my guide
The shores of prosperity was my goal
Come high waters come high tide
The sun was shining the skies blue
The winds friendly the waters calm
That all would change I had no clue
The clouds darkened I stood alarmed
The waves struck fifty foot high
My ship was sinking I had no doubt
My life would pass like a sigh
Terror and turmoil was all about
In despair I prayed "save my soul!"
To all the gods I knew I cried
Then in the darkness shone a cross of old
I heard "My son, for your soul I died"
I am He who made Heaven and Earth
I walked on water I tamed the raging sea
Believe in me receive new birth
Nothing will you fear when you believe in me
I gave my life to Him who died for me
He has been the Captain of my soul since
He who taught on the shores of Galilee
By His blood has washed away my sins
My ship sails sure it sails fine
My Captain knows where we are bound
My life still has ups and downs
But with Jesus at my side, I have peace divine
