Fear can show up unexpectedly, and we need to be able to recognize it so that we can deal with it right away. We have been given the power and authority over the enemy, but authority is of no use if it is not exercised. Being free from fear does not mean that we will never experience fear. It means that we will not let it rule our lives, and that we can still continue to carry out what we need to do, despite being afraid.

Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” God’s word tells us that we have been set free. And yet, we still need to ‘stand firm’ so that we are not again trapped by the yoke of bondage. Our enemy does not give up easily, and we must be watchful and alert, immediately recognizing it when our freedom in Christ is being stolen.

In Proverbs 24:16, The Bible says that the righteous man falls seven times and gets up again. He does not give up! Many times we may fail; we all have our weak moments. But this does not mean that we have lost the victory. If we give up, God will not be able to help us as we receive His help through faith, and not through hopelessness. This is why we are encouraged to praise Him and thank Him if we want to see a breakthrough.

Some of our fears are more deeply rooted that others, and we may need to fight it more. The good news is that we can learn to recognize it and deal with it. The longer we let fear remain, the harder it will be to get rid of it. Romans 8:37 says that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. God has given us all that we need to overcome our fears. Luke 10:19 says, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” God has given us the authority to overcome everything and anything that the devil throws at us. While dealing with our fears may take time, don’t give up. While God has given us freedom, it is something that we need to maintain. Everyday is a new day to conquer your fears.

Each time you feel fear and still decide to do the task ahead, you are confronting that which you are afraid of. You may not be totally fearless, but with each step, you will be more and more willing to face that which you are afraid of. Psalms 56:3-4 says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.”  Trust in Him when you are afraid, and He will come through for you. Do not let fear paralyze. Know that with God, we can do it even if we are afraid!
