Kuching – The annual ACS Youth Ministry Concert 2013 saw the gathering of six youth ministries from various churches here last Saturday night. The concert was held at the CEWC, Stampin, Kuching.

The Iban Methodist Church youths kicked off the event with the praise and worship in Iban, English and Bahasa Malaysia. The theme of the concert this year was taken from Isaiah 6:8, “Here am I, Send me.”

“All that we do in our Christian worship causes us to know our only true God,” said Bro Michael William, speaking on the theme. He talked about inheriting eternal life and asked the youths, “What would you do?”

When we know who God is, the God we worship is worthy, he said. “This is what separates us; we have eternal life,” he said. He also pointed out that we know God by attending Sunday school, church meetings and youth meetings.

John 17:3,

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

“If you know Him for all He is, you’d want to ask, ‘send me,’”, he said speaking from Luke 18 about the young man who asked Jesus what he could do to inherit eternal life. “We’d say yes because we know the real God.”

Luke 18: 18-22,

A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’ All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said. When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

The next step, he said, was to “sell everything you have.” Because of what you learned, you know who God is, who Jesus Christ is. “You know God the Father, the real God that it won’t be a problem,” he said.

“Go to people who don’t know God; that’s what God’s asking you to do,” he said. It’s not an easy task, but you can do it,” he encouraged. “Why? Because we know who God is.”

“Very few people have a relationship with God. You are here because of your relationship with God,” he said. Jesus is not just a name, but a relationship. “A relationship is more important than a name,” he added.

The second thing that Jesus said was to follow Him. “Follow Me means not just go here and there,” he said. “When you answer this call, you follow Jesus.”

“Jesus died for the poor people who don’t know God,” he said. The reason Jesus did this is because He loves His neighbor. “If you don’t love others, then don’t go! Don’t answer this call,” he added saying, “You need to love others like Jesus loves.”

“The most important thing is God is real; Jesus is sent by God,” he closed. “You can do it because of what you have learned and you can say, ‘here am I, send me.’”
