Psalm 93 – The Eternal Reign of the Lord

Psalm 93 is a hymn of praise to God. It is a beautiful expression of God’s sovereignty and majesty. It reminds us that our God is a powerful king who rules with authority and might, and that His reign is eternal and unchanging. God’s rule and authority did not begin at some point in history, but have always existed and will always exist. He is the source of all power and might, and nothing can shake His rule or change His plans. This gives us a sense of stability and security.

The psalmist described the power of the seas. The seas are often used in the Bible as a symbol of chaos and instability. However, even the mightiest pounding waves pales in comparison to the power of God. God is mightier than the sounds of many waters or the mighty breakers of the sea. He is greater than any force of nature, any power on earth, or any problem we could encounter in life. God is always in control, no matter what is happening in the world, even amid chaos and destruction.

God’s reign is not just characterized by power and might, but also by holiness and righteousness. The psalmist invites us to worship and praise God for who He is and for what He has done. Let us be filled with awe and gratitude for the Lord who reigns supreme over all of creation and let us respond by worshipping and praising our God, who is worthy of all honour and glory.

 

Let’s Read Psalm 93

1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
    the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;
    indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
2 Your throne was established long ago;
    you are from all eternity.

3 The seas have lifted up, Lord,
    the seas have lifted up their voice;
    the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
    mightier than the breakers of the sea—
    the Lord on high is mighty.

5 Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
    holiness adorns your house
    for endless days.

 

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father, You are the Almighty God who created and reigns over all the earth. Your throne is established from the beginning. Your majesty and power are beyond measure. The seas roar at Your command and lift their voice to praise You. We come before You in awe and reverence.

Lord, we thank you for Your steadfast love and faithfulness. Even amid chaos and uncertainty, You remain the same, and Your promises endure forever.

Help us to trust in You, to put our hope in Your unfailing love, and to remember that You are the One who holds all things together.

May Your name be praised and glorified, now and always. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
