On 26/10/10 (Tues.), my sister in Sibu called up telling me that she was so worried over her daughter, Victoria Gray, who was very sick in University Malaysia Sabah (UMS). She had been sick since 22/10/10 (Fri.), down with severe fever and flu-like symptoms, with some vomiting and hence getting very weak. My sister was so worried that she may be having dengue or H1N1 virus. I assured her that I would go and see whatever that I can do.
But, before I could go and fetch her that afternoon, her friend brought her to a clinic in Kingfisher Park nearby for medical treatment. So, with all the medicine prescribed, I presumed that she would be fine soon. To my surprise my sister called up again from Sibu on 29/10/10 (Fri.), saying that her daughter was so sick that she wanted to go back to Sibu to rest. She could not continue there because she was so serious, vomiting out everything that she had taken, so much so that she could not sleep at night and hence getting very2 weak. She insisted on going back home despite she had to come back for her year-end semester exam. on 9/11/10. From the near crying voice of my sister over the phone, I knew how worried she was for her daughter.
I reassured her that I’ll take her home and she doesn’t have to go back to Sibu as planned. That afternoon as I reached UMS, she was nowhere to be found. I called, “Vic., I’m here, where are you?”
With her weak and faint voice she said, “ I’m still up here on the 4th floor.”’
“Oh, why are you not waiting for me?” I asked, as I was expecting her to be down there, especially when I had driven all the way from Putatan to UMS, ie about 35 – 40 mins drive.
“ O, I cannot go down because of my luggage, I cannot carry it down.” she said. Then I understood how weak she was. So I went all the way up to help her. As I was up one staircase, a good ‘Samaritan’ roommate, tiny and pine size like her helped to drag her heavy luggage (all the books) all the way down the other staircase! When I saw Victoria, there was no smile on her face, only all the gloom and pain written all over her face. I knew how she must be suffering inside. She was suffering from nausea, vomiting, sourness in the stomach , hence very weak!
As I drove her home, she was vomiting in the car, complaining of nausea, tiredness because of sleepless nights. She grumbled, “What do I do there? I want to go back to Sibu.”
“Why do you have to go back Sibu so far? You’ll be going back soon for your semester break on 25/11/10. Just come over ‘Yee Yee’ (auntie) houise. Yee Yee cannot do anything else but Yee Yee will pray over for you, tomorrow you’ll be okay and you will glorify God.” I said.
“No, I want Mummy. Only Mummy knows what to do with me.” she uttered.
As we reached home, I offered her some porridge, as she was so weak. She sat looking at the porridge with a miserable look on her face. She just said, “I don’t feel like eating….I feel like vomiting!” All that I could think of was to uphold her to the Lord in prayers as in James 5: 14-15. So I called her over, laid hands and prayed over her, upholding her to God that He is the Jehovah Rapha, The Lord that healed us. At the same time, reassuring her that nothing is impossible to God who created us out of nothing, and that tomorrow she would be okay and she can glorify God. Though she was still rather miserable, I had to leave her at home as I had to attend my Sunday School Facilitator’s dinner that night.
Unexpectedly, my maid Maria came to her and reassured her of God ‘s greatness and His healing powers, as she herself had many times experienced before how the Lord healed her just through prayers only. (Praise the Lord, today she had become God’s witness!) She told Victoria, “Don’t worry, your Yeeyee (auntie) has already prayed for you and tomorrow you will be okay”
The next morning before I left for work at 8am, I came into her room to see her. And phew! She was sleeping like a baby! I asked her how she was doing, she said, “I’m Okay.”
“Did you vomit last night? I probed.
“ No.” she replied, shaking her head.
“ Do you still feel nausea and sourness in your stomach?” I continued.
“ No. I’m okay.” she answered.
“ Did you sleep well last night? I asked.
“ Yes,” she said, nodding her head. Truly she was sleeping even with the sun shining into her room.
I said ,” Praise the Lord! Isn’t God good?? Didn’t I tell you to just believe and you will be okay the next day? So today, you must really thank God for healing you. Praise and glorify His name for his love and faithfulness. And remember to read the Bible that I have given you. See, you don’t have to go back to Sibu. Now, Yee Yee also know what to do with you, he he!.”
Later, in my working place, I called back to follow up with her progress. Apparently, she was fine and getting on with her revision work. So I called up my sister in Sibu to inform her of her daughter’s divine healing, just prayers and prayers alone! She was so relieved and thankful for everything. I told her, “It’s the Lord that healed her. You must remember to thank Him.”
“ Thank God, at least I don’t have to spend all that extra expenses for her coming back and going back there again for her exam.” she uttered.
After her healing, she was with me for 10 days and she never did once complaint of sick or whatever. She was able to do all her studies, revision and prepared for her coming examination. I sent her back to UMS on 8/11/10 (Mon.) evening for her examination on Tuesday.
Praise and Glory be to God for healing her. We only pray the prayer of faith and God is the one who raised her up….Alleluia!! Isn’t God wonderful? Isn’t God amazing? Isn’t He faithful?
- Prayer is the key to open God’s heart!
“ Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church
and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of
the Lord. And the prayer of the faithful shall save the sick and the
Lord shall raise him up; and if any have committed sins, they shall
be forgiven him.” (James 5: 14 – 15)
