There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death (Prov.14:12).
A yoke is a wooden bar that joins two oxen to each other and to the burden they pull. An “unequally yoked” team has one stronger ox and one weaker, or one taller and one shorter. The weaker or shorter ox would walk slower than the taller, stronger one, causing the load to go around in circles. When oxen are unequally yoked, they cannot perform the task set before them. Instead of working together, they are at odds with one another.
That’s the reason why the damage done by sexual sin can have a tremendous effect on the life of the victim. You and I am not an ordinary lump of mass. We are not an accident born into this world. We are a makeup of spirit, soul and body. We are the highest form of God’s creation with intellectual power and ability. Unlike other creative life, man is a very sensitive and emotional being. We can be influenced either positively or negatively. Emotions play a great part in our lives and we can be easily affected by the things that go on in our soul and spirit.
It is a bottom line truth that when you become yoked with another person you open yourself to the spirit that’s at work in the other person. You have the option of either influencing the person or being influenced by the person.
“Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife” (Pro. 6:28-29).
You got to watch out for insecure people who often are so critical and judgmental of you. Insecure people are often the people who suffer from a spirit of rejection. There is an underlying issue in their life. These are a class of victims who have not seriously dealt with past issues in their lives. And if you are not careful and you give in to them they can gradually steal your individuality, rob you of your creativity and can stop you from pursuing your God-given assignment and vision.
The fact of the matter is that insecure people live in a box and they can’t see or think out of the box. It’s all about themselves. They can speak and teach the biblical principles to others but they themselves do not practice it nor apply it.
No matter how good and sincere you display your intentions and actions towards them they will always view it negatively, they will always view it suspiciously because of their hidden unsolved issues in their lives. They are so concretized in their mentality. They can’t see their weaknesses! They can’t see they are underperforming. They can’t see their ministry is going nowhere! But they can see the faults in others easily.
YOUR SUCCESS AND FAILURE IS NOT AN OUTSIDE ISSUE
Unfortunately they can’t identify that their success and failure is in their mind and their thinking! But the only thing they can see is the problem in others. Therefore they will always criticize you and be judgmental over you. They will always blame others for their problem.
They are so threatened by the things that do not conform to their “boxed mentality way of thinking.” They are individuals with “an absolute unteachable spirit “who go about thinking every other person in the world is wrong except themselves. They can’t simply rejoice and accept when God blesses others. They can’t rejoice when others who are successful and prosperous. They will always have something negative to say to console themselves and they expect others around them to approve their opinion as well.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn” (Rom.12:15).
“Out of the heart flow the issues of life” (Matt.15:19).
One should seriously examine the heart to make sure if there are any past issues of rejection, resentment or bitter roots that need to be “dug up and extracted”.
When God reveals certain truth in your life and bring it to light, be quick to deal with it. Hiding your issues under the rug will never change you! You will be living a false life fighting two individuals in you (Gal. 5:17). The devil will destroy you by riding on your weakness. God wants you to enjoy life to the full. Not to carry issues and dwell in it indefinitely and thinking its O.K.
You see, unless you deal with the root of a tree you can never change the quality of the external fruit! Until you deal with your past issues in your life you will never become that one individual created in the image of God. If you keep burying your problems instead of dealing with the root, that destructive problem will remain forever. It will cause you even more pain and sorrow and you bet your life it will reappear and manifest in many different forms in your life and your ministry. Unless the Amalekites in your life are thoroughly defeated, they will keep coming back.
Otherwise sorry to say, you will never be able to carry the assignment God has placed in your life. Because God always gives us an assignment beyond our capacity to fulfil it and humanly it is impossible to make it with your own clever idea. And unless your mind and heart is right, you will never be supplied with the supernatural anointing to fulfil the task. I don’t believe if God is in the picture of your vision you would be struggling to get there.
“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27)
If you say God has given you a vision for your ministry and indeed it is truly from God then you must apply your God-given intelligence humbly, seriously and excellently to fulfil it. Our God is a God of excellence and order. “You can’t wear a coat that does not fit you”. There are a lot of people who like to wear a coat but the question is: Can the coat fit you?
THE CONTRAST
It’s amazing how secure people handle you. The first thing you would realize is that you would love to be around them because it’s a completely different and healthy atmosphere. They are so free and relaxed towards you. They don’t harbor any resentment or suspicion towards you. They are sympathetic and concerned for others even when they go wrong. They are never judgmental towards your actions. They respect your views; they are not threatened by your actions, your opinions! They don’t need or try to squeeze you into their mold.
Imagine, they can allow you to be different individuals, carry different mind sets. You know why? Because they themselves are secure. They don’t need to blow your light off in order to let their own light shine. They don’t have to bury you in order to leverage themselves. When you and I are connected with such people the whole atmosphere is completely an atmosphere of joy and peace in the Holy Spirit where the peace of God that passes all understanding overtakes every negativity (Phil.4:7).
It matters very little to me what you think of me, the Master makes that judgement (1 Cor.4:3-4 TM).
The greatest tragedy in life is growing old, knowing that somewhere along the way you lost yourself from becoming who God called you to be, because you wanted it your way and not God’s way.
