The Move of God

Rev Dr Stephan Sos recently graced City Revival Church together with his wife Barbara. The founder of SOS Ministry International teaches at Bible Colleges, seminars, conferences, and ministers in many countries around the world to further the Kingdom of God; He has been ministering since the age of 16 years old! Before he preached the Word, his wife shared miraculous news that she had been pronounced healed of cancer. “It’s really a humbling feeling when you go through this and know that the family of God is behind you and is praying from all over the world,” she said before thanking everyone.

Stephan spoke of the increase of the churches in the world and the diminishing power of God. People gathered in extravagant numbers or excitement won’t tell you anything. “This is no guarantee of the presence of God in that place, as a matter of fact in most Churches you will see nothing of the presence of God… the effort for God to work is no longer there because man is at work. There is professional music, professional teaching, everything is on a professional level. Everything is being orchestrated for a professional performance. The only problem is, God is not in it. ” shared Stephan. Society has been raised with a professional appetite for better things hence recommending people to join because of the professionalism of services.

He then began to illustrate by sharing his recent travel to Budapest. When he arrived at Budapest and got in the pastors' vehicle, Stephan saw the aftermath of a serious flood that destroyed everything in it's path. He was told that just the day before he came, the water was 30 centimeters over the highway and they were fortunate enough to arrive when the water had subsided. Stephan asked the pastor, “Supposed something happened, where is the safest place in the river?” The answer surprised him when the pastor told him that the deep water was the safest place to be in. Shallow water is dangerous because that is where all the branches and rubbish get stuck, which could result in severe cuts on one's legs. Stephan realized that there were a lot of truth to that.

“A lot of people today go to a church where there is shallow water, because they think if they go there, there’s no responsibility or accountability. The problem is all kinds of trash of teaching, practices and more gather in. When you go to those churches, sooner or later you’ll realize that that trash cannot take care of you,” he said.

God has committed himself to us

"As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants–from this time on and forever," says the LORD.

(Isaiah 59:21)

"Therefore I bring charges against you again," declares the LORD. "And I will bring charges against your children's children.”

(Jeremiah 2:9)

The scriptures above talk about the importance of “three’s” and generations that have to do with principles. The number three is used over and over again in the Bible. Many things are always in threes; for example, the Holy Trinity and when Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. “The mindset of man is such that you can easily remember the triad,” he added. When God purposes something, there is always a principle in what He does and there are three different levels of how things work with God. “When fire falls and the glory of God moves, everything else such as the praise and worship stops because of the fire. However, the fire goes from great to lesser then small, indicating the three different levels of how things work with God,” shared Stephan.

Each of the three generations beginning from Abraham began to see lesser of God’s move in their life as they went along. Jacob was the third generation and that’s what many churches are following today; they are smoothing things over. “There is a new theology and it is called universalism and that is Jacob’s problem. Universalism is… your God, my God, whoever's God is all the same God. This theology also teaches that we are all God’s children and that one day, we will all be together with God. No, no, and no! This is what is called smoothing over and there is no such thing! It doesn’t exist,” he shared. Abraham was a pioneer and he had a pioneer spirit that was rare; God’s move in Jacob's generation was diminishing and wasn’t as strong as Abraham's generation.

After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us that we may live in his presence.

(Hosea 6:2)

The move of God is far more important in the Church than any professional standard. There is a purpose when God called Abraham and there is a purpose when God called us. “He could have called a million other people to become what you are today, but why did God choose you? There is a purpose in your life!” he said. Abraham did not seek for the blessings of God. Instead, it was God that offered His blessings. Many Christians live their life attending Church every Sunday and going home after it’s done, that’s it. However, know that everyone, every single one of us is called according to His purpose. Everyone in the Church who knows God needs to fulfill the purpose of God in their lives. We are not just visitors,” said Stephan. God has already committed Himself when He called us!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Sin deteriorates life! Many great people have been brought down by sin whether it is an affair or due to corruption. There are many people who you think have it all together and then all of a sudden, they are reduced to a pile of flesh. “When you go to Jesus, it is the opposite. We were like this and now He says, 'I will make your name great.' God wants you lifted out of the situation and above and beyond anything that is normal and natural!” he said. God blessed Abraham because he was to become a blessing just like how we are to become a blessing. Abraham was already rich at that time. “The moment Abraham began to share his wealth with other's, God called him to be a rich and blessed man. The Bible says that God monitors things and that He is in control. There is nothing that happens to you that God doesn’t take note of,” said Stephan. God rewards accordingly. He wants to be involved in our lives and He wants to bless us abundantly!
