Have A Heart for the Lost

8 May 2013  by James Hoh CM –

“You can’t witness to your friends anymore in heaven,” Pastor George Dass said, strucking every heart and mind which were overwhelmed with thoughts of General Election 13, the nation’s day of fate. “If we don’t have the urgency to share the Great Commandment, we need to ‘Ubah’!”

There are four reasons why Christians need to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to others in his last Sunday’s sermon:

1)     It is the Great Commission

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:19-20

We don’t preach the Gospel alone but with the help of the Holy Spirit. Therefore we should not fear rejection. We must be assured that He is with us, helping us to witness to the unsaved.

An ambassador for a country has great knowledge about their own country so that he can tell others about it. In the same way, we as Christ Ambassadors must tell others about Jesus Christ.

2)     It is the Great Commandment

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12:30-31

Passion for God and love for the lost are the core values of Kajang Assembly of God. In order to be effective, we need to have God’s love. We cannot have God’s love when we don’t love him. It is in this relationship that God empower us to love others.

Like Jesus who spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well, he approached her without approving her sins. Jesus’ action proved his love for the lost. In the Bible, there are others who loved the lost without compromising their standards; this is what we must do.

3)     It is the Second Coming of Christ

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Revelation 22:20

Jesus Christ said He will come again suddenly. This is the most powerful message we can tell others. There is urgency.

Many people excuse themselves by stating that they are not equipped to share the Gospel. But in reality, no one can finish studying. The day we become Christians should also be the day we become witnesses for Christ.

Don’t wait; death sometimes doesn’t wait for us to prepare ourselves. We may be too late if we delay!

4)     The harvest is plentiful; the labour is so few.

37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

Matthew 9:37

Some of us are waiting for revival but the Bible says that we should be prepared in and out of season. We must be prepared to share testimonies at anytime. But the real question is: whether we are willing and  available.

Now what, Christians?

1.  We are encouraged to know the unchurched

2.  We are to pray for their salvation regularly

3.  We are to build our relationship with them

4.  We are to invite them to cell parties
