On 14th of April, the Alpha Film Series was launched in Kuala Lumpur with Alpha developer Nicky Gumbel and wife Pippa, at Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang (HTBB), Lot 10 in Kuala Lumpur.
This kick started a global launch on the same day in Cape Town, Johannesburg, London, Hungary, Lusaka, Los Angeles, and Vancouver.
The attendees were shown the first episode of the fifteen 30-minute documentary style films, offered to churches as an alternative to traditional Alpha talks.

Produced at a cost of £1.5 million, CBBC TV presenter Gemma Hunt and a young Church of England clergyman Toby Flint flew around the world to film the series. Nicky Gumbel is also featured, presenting some of the key materials.
“We did sense the Holy Spirit for every little clip that we filmed,” said Nicky, who prayed with the team before filming.
The new series covers all the familiar Alpha topics including Who is Jesus?, How can we have faith?, Why and how do I pray?, How does God guide us?, and Who is the Holy Spirit?
One of Nicky’s favourite parts was the filming of Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford – John Carson Lennox – who opined that Christian faith and science should have no conflict. The pastor of Holy Trinity Brompton, London is currently preparing his church to meet the number of people who will know Jesus through the series.
“Prepare the net, we need to be ready,” said Nicky.
“We hope that this will get to the churches that don’t have decent resources,” added Pippa.
The first episode of the Alpha Film Series will be available free online on April 14, 2016, and new episodes will be released every week through April and May. It will later be available in DVD format and also in Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin and Hindi, by the end of 2016.
