I often find reading the Bible or spending time digging deeper into the Word of God a challenge in my busy lifestyle. But thank God for mobile Apps! With the 5 Apps below, I could find time listening, reading, and/or sharing the Word of God (when I am driving or doing some manual work).
Bible.is
I find Bible.is incredibly helpful when I cannot find time to read the Bible. With a selection of different versions of the Bible including ESV, KJV, NASB, NIV, WEB, etc (and 1650 languages), I can download the whole Bible overnight over a fixed line. This Bible also comes with dramatised version, with background music and also the voices of each biblical character. It feels like watching a movie from listening to the Bible. The App also comes with 61 Jesus films, which we can download into our mobile phone.
Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread is a devotional book that I personally grew up with. I used to receive its monthly printed booklet. So, I got excited when I found out that Our Daily Bread is translated into an App now. Like Bible.is, we can also download Our Daily Bread month-to-month and play the voice recording of each daily sharing. Each usually lasts from three to four minutes. Read by millions of people around the world since 1956, I love how the writers of Our Daily Bread could see God in the simplest and most ordinary happenings in life.
YouVersion
YouVersion is a Bible App I use to read the Bible. With an overwhelming 1115 versions and 798 languages, I would personally use only one or two versions including NIV and NASB, and another two versions to refer to such as AMP and KJV. I have also used the different plans offered in YouVersion before such as Bible in 90 days. Other plans include “What is God’s Purpose For My Life?” and “Scary Close-Reflections for Finding True intimacy.” YouVersion is like my faithful digital pocket Bible.
The Daily Bible Devotional
As for devotionals, I find myself using this App most consistently because I like how this App delivers a bible verse followed by a concise message, one in the morning and one in the evening. Most of all, sometimes, I find God speaks to me through this App as well, for how timely the messages are. In this App, we get to also “like” the devotional and leave messages under each devotional as a user. I also like how I can easily copy the messages and share them with my family and friends through text message, Whassap, etc.
Ask Pastor John
And finally, Ask Pastor John is an App I use a lot, in growing in my walk with God. I like how the questions are sent by listeners to Pastor John Piper, from all over the world from listeners like me. The answers given are also very concise and easy to follow, covering a rich variety of theological and practical questions that last from six minutes to over eight minutes. Some of the questions you get are like “How do I choose between Two Good Things?” or “Can Jesus Really Understand My Temptations?” or “Should My Spouse Talk to Others About our Marriage Struggles?”
