Today is the second day of the second half of this new year. Of course, if it is this far gone into the year, the year can no longer be justly called new.
By now it’s either half gone and, therefore, time to wake up to recalibrate or we’re half way there and can continue to plod on after taking a deep breath. Of course, here in Malaysia, we always have a third option, to shrug, lay back and drawl, relax-lah, got six whole full months more – can make it one, Malaysia Boleh.
So far, however, we seem to be showing ourselves and the rest of the world what the opposite of boleh is. One day, we read in the newspapers that we have solved a problem only to read in the same newspapers the next day that there has been a reversal. The latest was that such and such a thing had happened in one of our universities for such and such a reason, and the next day it was reported, where got, who said? No such reason-lah.
So, perhaps, like spectators at badminton, another favourite Malaysian past-time, we’ll get to watch this toss between yes-it’s-so and no-it’s-not for another few days and then the whole thing will slide into history and we’ll wonder what’s up for the next course, as we lay back and pick our teeth. We seem quite good at doing that – spinning the present into the past.
It seems hard to move forward when we seem to be mired in the quicksand of double-speak as a result of speaking-without-thinking. Even more latest – because this is a year of ‘have-you-heard-the-latest’ for us – now, New Zealand is upset with us. And once again, we seem to be hearing hmming and hawing instead of urgency in dealing with another serious matter that has befallen us.
The good side of all this, of course, is that since 2 January, 2014, we’ve jerked out of slumber and dashed to our positions at the watchtower. If someone like me is now a regular at Wednesday Prayer Meetings, then the Lord must really be returning very, very soon because they say big miracles will happen prior to that event. So, all this shaking has been good for many of us.
For the world, too, because so much has been and is being prophesied about the destiny of a praying Malaysia that ties us to the rest of Southeast Asia, Israel and the Lord’s return. It’s a grand vision of the Lord’s – to make us gatekeepers for His larger move in this region and beyond. How could we not be excited at such a vision? How could we not want to be part of that move?
Besides, don’t we already know how this story ends? Yeshua haMashiach will return to rule the world.
Some mornings, though, it’s tough remembering the plot. The scenes seem overwhelming, especially when you look at yourself in the mirror and see nothing remarkable returning your gaze. Then, you deliberately call to mind the words of Ps 131, after which Josh 1:8, Deut 31:6, Matt 28:20 and the rest of the Scriptures, practically, flood into remembrance and finally, you’re ready to step into your role.
But you need to know what’s happening around you, and so you pick up the newspapers…ah! bad move…necessary, but still a bad move.
Because it’s not just what’s going on in the homeland that makes the hands tremble this time…whoa, what a lot of alarming activity everywhere…especially in West Asia just now.
However, the deep, deep desire could not be abolished by any man or act of his political will or just his will, for that matter, because deep, deep desires are not ousted until the desirer does the ousting; the desiree only suppresses it. And so it has been living in London all this while.
Today is the second day of the second half of the year 2014. If you are a watchman for Malaysia, wake up and run to the watchtower.
We no longer have the luxury of ‘waiting on the Lord to find out what He wants me to do with my life.’ That time of innocence, that day of dallying is over for Malaysia.
If the prophecies are to come true, today is the day we need to start playing our part, just like those who have gone before us played theirs. Deal with it. Quickly. Then, run to the watchtower.
I am so weak, and I need you to uphold me, and yes, I will uphold you, too…There is a new family being fashioned…from every part of the world…beyond DNA and natural family ties…this is a supernatural networking of people who love Yeshua for the simple reason that He loved them first…and this big, beautiful family, of which every member looks different, speaks a different language and bears a different colour…it is the most beautiful family in the universe because it is so diverse and yet so one in love and understanding…this beautiful family with one Father, one Head, one Allegiance…is called to come together now…to uphold one another even as we receive strength, refreshing and direction from our Father.
