The bond <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or relationship<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that He prayed about is of such <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">depth<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that just as the Father is in Jesus, so is Jesus <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Father. This is the kind of the bond <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of love<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that we <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as the Church and the Body of Christ<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are created <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by God<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and, in Jesus\u2019 own words, <em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>so that the world may believe that You have sent Me<\/em>\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1908, Paul Wattson proposed January 18th-25th each year as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the week<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when churches<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the Northern Hemisphere come together <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one Body of Christ <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in celebration, thanksgiving, and prayer for Christian unity. font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tradition of the Week of Prayer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for Christian Unity<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Malaysia went back many years, with the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catholics, Council of Churches Malaysia (CCM) denominations or members (such as Anglicans, Lutherans, Mar Thoma, Methodists, Presbyterians, Syrian Orthodox, Salvation Army, Malaysian CARE, etc) and National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) congregations,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all taking turns <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hosting an ecumenical prayer service where <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> diverse denominations, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">members or congregations, the different parts of the Body of Christ that is the Malaysian Church,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> come together in one corporate <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">prayer service and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">worship. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this year, it was the turn of the Lutheran Church to host again, with the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malaysian <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Church taking up <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this year\u2019s<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> calling in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+22%3A+37-40&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Matthew 22: 37-40<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; \u201c<em>to love God with all our hearts, and souls, and mind, and to love our neighbours as ourselves<\/em>\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tone was set for the whole celebration through an emulation of a tradition that has been practised in Burkina Faso for a long time, where a calabash is used to share water with guests who arrived tired from their <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">long<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> journeys. The practice expresses welcome, hospitality and fellowship. All were welcomed in the same way as Abraham welcomed the three visitors and provided water for their refreshment <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Genesis+18%3A+1-8&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Genesis 18:1-8<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The Processional was accompanied by the hymn \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All Hail the Power of Jesus\u2019s Name<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d in recognition of the Lordship of Jesus over the Church.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; 400;\">Bishop Dr T Jeyakumar from<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Methodist Church <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Malaysia, a Responsorial Psalm based on<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+138&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b> Psalm 138<\/b><\/a><span We must first surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to love us as we are; in our brokenness and woundedness, and in our imperfectness. Remember; God loves us despite our imperfections.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only the love of God in Christ enables us to love others.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Without experiencing the undeserved love of God passively in our lives, we cannot love our neighbours actively. Without Christ in us, we will never look at the woundedness or brokenness of our neighbours. Experiencing the love of God, we can love others.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are called to look beyond our close circles (family, church, denomination, etc), and to live scriptural lives.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cLet us love one another\u201d (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+John+4%3A+7-12&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 John 4:7-12<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+17%3A+21&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 17:21<\/a><\/strong>). This year, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Captain Andrew Lo from the Salvation Army, Rev Andy Chi from NECF, Rev Ronald Yap from the Methodist Church in Malaysia, Rev Caleb Santhosam from the Lutheran Church, Elder Frederick Foo from Malaysian CARE and Rev David Devapirian from the Lutheran Church<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all took turns to lead the prayers.
