The Old Testament books of Samuel and Kings records instances where David\u2019s life was under constant threat. The conspiracy from his enemies were real. <\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E991\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span id=\"E992\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">He describes them using military terms such as \u201csharpen their tongues like sword\u201d, \u201caim their words like deadly arrows\u201d and \u201cthey lie in ambush and shoot.\u201d His enemies are pictured as taking counsel to hatch \u201cevil plans\u201d. They set \u201ctheir snares\u201d secretly, thinking that no one has seen them doing so. And they plot \u201cinjustice\u201d with \u201ccunning\u201d mind and heart like unprincipled politicians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E994\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span id=\"E995\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">David being a man after God\u2019s own heart knew who to place his trust and confidence in. God will protect him and strike down his enemies and ruin them. God will \u2018turn the tables on his enemies\u2019. He will suddenly shoot them with His arrows, and ruin them by turning their own tongues against them. What a turnaround! <\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E997\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span id=\"E998\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">All of mankind will see and fear God and acknowledge His salvation. The righteous will rejoice in God\u2019s absolute power and sovereignty. God will be the refuge of His people. <\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1000\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span id=\"E1001\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Along our pilgrim journey, there will arise the enemies of the Gospel to assail us. Do we need to fear them even if persecution should be our portion? Let\u2019s build a bulwark of faith in our God, trust in Him alone, and glory in Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"E981\" class=\"qowt-stl-Heading1 x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><strong><span id=\"E-464\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Let&#8217;s Read Psalm 64<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1005\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-2\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span id=\"E1006\" class=\"qowt-font2-TimesNewRoman qowt-stl-text\">For the director of music. A psalm of David.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1007\" class=\"qowt-stl-line x-scope qowt-word-para-3\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E1008\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">1\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1009\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint;<\/span><span id=\"E1011\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1012\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1013\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">protect my life from the threat of the enemy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1014\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-3 qowt-stl-line x-scope qowt-word-para-3\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E1015\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">2\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1016\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">Hide me from the conspiracy\u00a0of the wicked,<\/span><span id=\"E1018\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1019\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1020\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">from the plots of evildoers.<\/span><span id=\"E1022\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1023\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">3\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1024\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">They sharpen their tongues like swords<\/span><span id=\"E1026\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1027\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1028\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.<\/span><span id=\"E1030\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1031\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">4\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1033\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">They shoot from ambush at the innocent;<\/span><span id=\"E1035\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1036\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1037\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">they shoot suddenly, without fear.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1038\" class=\"qowt-stl-line x-scope qowt-word-para-3\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E1039\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">5\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1040\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">They encourage each other in evil plans,<\/span><span id=\"E1042\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1043\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1044\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">they talk about hiding their snares;<\/span><span id=\"E1046\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1047\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1048\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">they say, \u201cWho will see it?\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E1050\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1051\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">6\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1052\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">They plot injustice and say,<\/span><span id=\"E1054\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1055\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1056\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">\u201cWe have devised a perfect plan!\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E1058\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1059\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1060\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1061\" class=\"qowt-stl-line x-scope qowt-word-para-3\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E1062\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">7\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1063\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">But God will shoot them with his arrows;<\/span><span id=\"E1065\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1066\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1067\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">they will suddenly be struck down.<\/span><span id=\"E1069\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1070\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">8\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1071\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">He will turn their own tongues against them<\/span><span id=\"E1073\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1074\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1075\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">and bring them to ruin;<\/span><span id=\"E1077\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1078\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1079\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">all who see them will shake their heads\u00a0in scorn.<\/span><span id=\"E1081\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1082\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">9\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1083\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">All people will fear;<\/span><span id=\"E1085\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1086\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1087\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">they will proclaim the works of God<\/span><span id=\"E1089\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span id=\"E1090\" class=\"qowt-stl-indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"E1091\" class=\"qowt-stl-text\">and ponder what he has done.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E1092\" class=\"qowt-stl-line x-scope qowt-word-para-3\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that as we walk this pilgrim pathway, there will be seasons and reasons for dread and fear as the enemy seeks to assail us, as we see hosts of people who do not know You seeking to cast fear in our hearts, seeking to hate us, seeking to commit iniquity, and take secret counsels against us. But we know, Heavenly Father, that You see all these, hear all these, and wish to only trust You, in Your sovereign power and in Your ability to protect us, to defend us. Therefore, Heavenly Father, let us see You as a God who is our present help in trouble, a refuge in the storm, and a rock that we can stand on which is higher than us. Let us learn to fear You not men, and proclaim Your wonderful words. Let us live righteous lives so that we can rejoice in You, that as upright people we can glory in You. We pray all these in Jesus\u2019 Name.
