I am sure many <\/span><span id=\"E52\">of <\/span><span id=\"E54\">these sound<\/span><span id=\"E57\">all too <\/span><span id=\"E58\">familiar and brings back memories. <\/span><span id=\"E59\">We <\/span><span id=\"E60\">all grew up having our parents remind us of things on a daily basis. It never ended. Perhaps for some of us, it dragged on to our teenage years and maybe even adulthood!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p id=\"E61\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-1\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E88\">There is a constant need for all of us to be reminded of things, because our human mind always has a tendency to forget. To remind is to cause someone to remember or take note of something, where there is strong possibility of forgetting. \u201cRe\u201d is a prefix which means to do again. We reload our phones, we replay a song, we refill our petrol, we rework an assignment. <\/span><strong><span id=\"E90\">So<\/span><span id=\"E92\"> to \u201cremind\u201d is to put back into our minds something that was once there.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69757\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69757\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69757 \" src=\"http:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/iStock-482385108.170304.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/iStock-482385108.170304.jpg 640w, https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/iStock-482385108.170304-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/iStock-482385108.170304-150x82.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69757\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ref: wordpress<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"E93\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E94\">Let\u2019s look at the word from a Biblical perspective and have a clearer picture. <\/span><span id=\"E95\">The word \u201cRemind\u201d in th<\/span><span id=\"E96\">e New<\/span><span id=\"E97\"> Testament is taken from the <\/span><span id=\"E98\">Greek<\/span><span id=\"E99\"> word <strong>\u201c<\/strong><\/span><strong><em><span id=\"E101\">Hypomimnesko<\/span><\/em><span id=\"E103\">\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E104\"> which means to recollect or remember something as prompted by the Holy Spirit<\/span><\/strong><span id=\"E105\"><strong>.<\/strong> So<\/span><span id=\"E106\">,<\/span><span id=\"E107\"> in other words, when you are in the midst of doing something and suddenly you are reminded to do something like call someone or prayer for someone, it is not something to be brushed off but it is <\/span><span id=\"E108\">\u201c<\/span><em><span id=\"E110\">Hypomimnesko<\/span><\/em><span id=\"E112\">\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E113\">. You would have just been prompted by the Holy Spirit<\/span><span id=\"E114\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p id=\"E115\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E116\">There are countless times in Scriptures where this word \u201cremind\u201d <\/span>appears but I would just like to highlight a few to you<span id=\"E117\"> in order for us to see, how many <\/span><span id=\"E118\">times <\/span><span id=\"E119\">in Scriptures<\/span><span id=\"E120\">, writers<\/span><span id=\"E121\"> felt reminders were very important.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p id=\"E122\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E150\">P<\/span><span id=\"E151\">eter used some rather convincing words i<\/span><span id=\"E152\">n<\/span><span id=\"E153\"> 2 Peter 1:12-13:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69758\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69758\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69758\" src=\"http:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2ac3f02618cd08b32392b0b5d9186d28.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2ac3f02618cd08b32392b0b5d9186d28.jpg 640w, https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2ac3f02618cd08b32392b0b5d9186d28-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/christianitymalaysia.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2ac3f02618cd08b32392b0b5d9186d28-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ref: pinimg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p id=\"E160\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E161\">In fact, he repeats something similar again in <\/span><span id=\"E162\">2 Peter 3:1<\/span><span id=\"E163\">, where he says, \u201c<\/span><em><span id=\"E164\">This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder<\/span><\/em><span id=\"E165\"><em>.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E167\">Peter was in fact reminding them about something they already knew. He even knew that this would be something he will continue to do as long as he lives.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E168\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E169\">Paul when addressing the Roman church<\/span><span id=\"E170\"> also felt the need to remind them of certain things. He was talking to people who were full of goodness, knowledgeable and even competent, yet they still needed to be reminded. How much more us? The E<\/span><span id=\"E231\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">nglish <\/span><span id=\"E232\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">S<\/span><span id=\"E233\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">tandard <\/span><span id=\"E234\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">V<\/span><span id=\"E235\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">ersion<\/span><span id=\"E236\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> says we are to have<\/span><span id=\"E237\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> a<\/span><span id=\"E238\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> \u201csincere mind\u201d. B<\/span><span id=\"E239\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">lue <\/span><span id=\"E240\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">L<\/span><span id=\"E241\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">etter <\/span><span id=\"E242\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">B<\/span><span id=\"E243\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">ible<\/span><span id=\"E244\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> refers to it as a \u201cpure mind\u201d while the <\/span><span id=\"E245\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Amplified Bible<\/span><span id=\"E246\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> says <\/span><span id=\"E248\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">it<\/span><span id=\"E249\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">s<\/span><span id=\"E251\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> an \u201cuntainted mind\u201d. The <\/span><span id=\"E252\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Contemporary English Version<\/span><span id=\"E253\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> makes it ver<\/span><span id=\"E254\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">y<\/span><span id=\"E255\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"> clear by using the term \u201chonest thinking\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E256\" style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contentsContainer\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<div id=\"contents\" class=\"style-scope qowt-page\">\n<p id=\"E257\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E258\">Now putting all of that together would mean that God is reminding us that in our<\/span><span id=\"E259\"> daily<\/span><span id=\"E260\"> lives, we need to check our thought pattern to make sure that our thoughts are sincere, pure, wholesome and most of all honest and not tainted by seeds of the evil one. <\/span><span id=\"E261\">Wholesome thinking is not positive thinking (that is what the world would tell you).<\/span><span id=\"E262\"> It is accurate thinking in accordance to God\u2019s Word.<\/span><span id=\"E263\"> You have a positive thought that may not be accurate, according to God.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E264\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E265\">Again<\/span><span id=\"E266\">,<\/span><span id=\"E267\"> to have a deeper understanding of this word is to always go to the root of the Word. It is so important in Bible study to have some basic knowledge of Hebrew and Greek. <\/span><span id=\"E269\">So<\/span><span id=\"E271\"> when Paul said wholesome thinking to the people of Rome, what did he actually say?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E272\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E273\">Well<\/span><span id=\"E275\">,<\/span><span id=\"E276\"> the Greek word here is \u201c<\/span><em><span id=\"E278\">Eilikrine<\/span><\/em><span id=\"E280\">\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E281\">. We must understand that the audience Paul was speaking to at that time were <\/span><span id=\"E282\">those involved in pottery<\/span><span id=\"E283\">, so he used such a word because it was something they could relate to. It was a common terminology to them at that time. You see, <\/span><em><strong><span id=\"E284\">\u201c<\/span><span id=\"E286\">Eilikrine<\/span><span id=\"E288\">\u201d means to be found to be pure when examined under sunlight<\/span><\/strong><\/em><span id=\"E289\"><em><strong>. <\/strong><\/em>The <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E316\">practice at that time was that many potters when making clay pots<\/span><span id=\"E317\">,<\/span><span id=\"E318\"> would always find a way to cheat customers. In the process of a making a pot, if it were to crack, the potter would apply some wax on it to <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">cover up that crack and still sell it at the original price. A regular customer would probably just buy it not knowing that it was damaged. He knows that once he takes control of our thoughts, it will affect our emotions and our actions. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E328\" class=\"x-scope qowt-word-para-0\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span id=\"E329\">God is reminding us today to practice <\/span><span id=\"E330\">\u201c<\/span><em><span id=\"E332\">Eilikrine<\/span><\/em><span id=\"E334\">\u201d<\/span><span id=\"E335\">. Take every thought and see if it matches the Word of God. Is it i<\/span><span id=\"E336\">n<\/span><span id=\"E337\"> accordance to <\/span><span id=\"E338\">G<\/span><span id=\"E339\">od\u2019s principles or man\u2019s<\/span><span id=\"E340\">?
