When our heart is filled with gratitude for God\u2019s goodness, we enter into a state of rest because we become conscious of God\u2019s faithfulness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">In the same way, when we rest in God because we trust in His unfailing lead, we begin to nurture a grateful heart. God himself rested on the 7<sup>th<\/sup> day of creation \u2013 surely it wasn\u2019t because He was tired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>Isaiah 40:28 tells us, \u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary..\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">When God rested, He ceased working after six days of creating. In fact, that\u2019s what <em>Shabat<\/em> means \u2013 \u2018to cease or stop\u2019 \u2013 God <em>deliberately<\/em> stopped working.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He was setting an example for us to follow \u2013 a day of rest designed for the good of mankind. How often do we say it out loud or better yet, testify to others about every good thing in our life?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">How often do we curb our complaining when things don\u2019t go our way and instead give gratitude to the One who is <em>leading<\/em> our way?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>To maintain a mind-set thanksgiving, we must intentionally cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to \u201cgive thanks in all circumstances; for this is God\u2019s will for you in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Gratitude is a muscle we must exercise every day \u2013 we must pause daily to give thanks.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Think about what God has done and what He is doing now, and then, write it down if you have to. Confess what you are grateful for because it ushers in the presence of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>Psalm 100:4 says, \u201cEnter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">So basically, we can be in God\u2019s presence <em>anytime<\/em>, <em>anywhere<\/em> simply by giving Him thanks! How marvellous that we have this bold access to God! It gives us inner clarity and focus, and it puts things into perspective.
