A fun night<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Around 60 to 70 students gathered for a fun Christmas Celebration at Golden Sands Restaurant, Kampar on the 3rd<\/sup> of December. Open Mic Night saw many students from Generation One, FGA Ipoh\u2019s campus church in Kampar taking the stage to perform in front of their friends. From Christmas carols to love song duets, rap, and even a stand up comedy, these tertiary students from UTAR and KTAR are talented and energetic bunch. With good food and good music, the Open Mic Night that was held by Generation One provided the campus students a night of healthy fun.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2008, Generation One started out as a \u2018nomadic\u2019 cell group, with a handful of students. Meeting in different places every week as they did not have a place of their own, the cell group met in shops, and students\u2019 houses for several months. As the cell members grew, there was no doubt that the students in Kampar needed guidance and many were searching for God, and the meaning of life.<\/p>\n

As of 2011, Kampar has a student population of 9000, and this is increasing every year. For many of them it is their first time tasting the freedom of staying away from home. With some of the students suffering from homesickness and others getting a bit carried away with their new found \u2018freedom\u2019, it is clear that there is a need for a place where the students can be loved and accepted for who they are in this significant period of their lives.<\/p>\n

Merry Christmas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Led by Pastor Matthew Dass, the vision of Generation One is to reach, equip and empower university students. Generation One aims to assist students to form strong and healthy friendships, giving students a sense of home away from home while undertaking their studies in Kampar. It is a Campus Church that is passionate about God, and has a desire to spread the love of Jesus in a fresh, powerful way, and to inspire students with relevant messages about God and faith.<\/p>\n

From a cell group \u2018travelling\u2019 from place to place every week, God has provided a place for this thriving campus ministry. With new salvations almost every week, and students stepping up to serve in the house of God despite the many assignments and exams that they have, Generation One has seen God\u2019s goodness and faithfulness. It is a place where students are prepared before they are launched out into the world after university.<\/p>\n

Generation One meets every Wednesday night at 8.00pm and those who are interested to join can contact Pas. Matt at 0165193650 for more information.<\/p>\n

Other student ministries in Kampar include Campus Connect which meets at 8.30 pm on Mondays, and Church of Praise Kampar which meets on Thursday at 8.30pm (Pas Elijah \u2013 05 3134511)<\/p>\n
