Luke 12:22-26, Matt.6: 25-28

“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life. Aren’t you not more valuable than the birds of the air, whom I feed? Why do you worry then? Can you add a moment to your life by worrying? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’”

Why are worried about tomorrow’s when you have your own problems to deal with today?

What is worry anyway?  Can worry produce anything? Worry is a strong negative emotional force that drains you out of your joy, peace and wellbeing.  It kills you at every level. It is a chronic concern. Chronic worrying affects your daily life so much that it interferes with your lifestyle.

It’s an event or encounter you are unable to control, it’s a situation that frightens and torments you, it’s a problem that keeps you awake when you are suppose to be sleeping. The combination of all these factors will leave you drained and depressed in the end. When worrying becomes excessive, it can lead to feelings of high anxiety and even cause you to be physically ill.

SATAN USES FEAR TO DESTROY THE MIND AND THE BODY

Fear destroys you at every level but faith creates hope and expectation that you can count on the faithfulness of God.

Proverbs 3:8

“God’s Word is health to all our flesh”

Philip.4:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

If you happen to reflect your memory back to the things that took place in your life last year or even last week for that matter, you would discover that most of the concerns that you have been worrying about, never really took place!

Psychological studies have concluded that a large proportion of the human energy and time are wasted unnecessarily in an unproductive manner because of our overwhelming worries. A large proportion of what we worry about, after all never really happens. Just imagine most of the time we worry for no good reason at all! And if we continue in this attitude and mindset we end up dying early.

WORRY IS LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR THAT WILL EAT YOUR ENERGY UP AND GETS YOU NOWHERE.

THE MINDSET WHICH IS INFLUENCED BY FEAR IS A MINDSET OF THE WORLD

As we fear the things that we don’t want to happen, we are actually bringing about the manifestation of the very thing that we are focusing on with fear. In fact we are operating a counterforce to faith. If we are operating in fear, we are actually bringing this reality into our life because fear is a spiritual force. FEAR IS A SPIRIT.

Job was acknowledged by God Himself that he was a righteous servant of God. He was an excellent and upright man that He applauded him before satan. God challenged satan if satan could find anybody like his servant Job in the earth!

Despite how God thought of him, Job said when he was afflicted in (Job.3:25),”For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.” The very fear of what he did not want to happen, happened!

When you and I are not prepared to renew our mind in line with what God says in His word, we are left with no choice but to be influenced by the world’s way of thinking.

Pro.23:7

“As a man thinketh in his heart so is he”

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). FEAR IS DEVELOPED BY MEDITATING ON THE LIES OF THE DEVIL.

Dr. Charles Mayo says, “there is a growing mountain of evidence to suggest that worry is the chief contributor to depression, nervous breakdowns, high blood pressure, heart attacks and early death. I have never known a man die from hard work, but I have known a lot who died from worry.”

There was a research study that was carried out at King’s College London on breast cancer patients who had undergone mastectomy. The findings showed that seven out of ten women with a strong faith were alive ten years later while four out of five who felt hopeless and worried because of their condition met an early death.

We cannot eradicate worry and anxiety totally. That of course would be unrealistic but we can control the atmosphere by viewing it from a different dimension, from God’s point of view so to speak.

Where is your hope and trust rested on despite the challenges that confronts you in life? Is it based on the way the world thinks or is it rested on the God who created you? The world says I have to see to believe but God says believe first then you will see. Because He lives you can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds my future. Life is worth the living because He lives!

I’m going to look to the hills from whence cometh my help! My help cometh from The Lord the maker of heaven and earth.  (Psalm 121:1) I will lift up my eyes unto you. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
