Faithfulness

24 Sept 2013 by Natasha Kim CM-

Pastor Mun recently preached at Puchong Tabernacle Assembly (PTA) about the importance of being faithful to the Lord and all the goodness we will reap from being faithful to Him. “Sometimes we are too smooth in our Christian lives where we are too comfortable in our own boat that we forget God. We often need something to rock our boat in order to say “Yes Lord! You hold my future!” she said.

Rehoboam did evil because he didn’t decide in his heart to obey the Lord

(Chronicles 12:14)

You will save yourselves by continuing strong in your faith through all things.

(Luke 21:19)

The Bible verses above interprets faithfulness as obeying the Lord and having strong faith.

Is it necessary?

Many false prophets will come and cause many people to believe things that are wrong. There will be so much more evil in the world that the love of most believers will grow cold, but the one who remains faithful to the end will be saved.

(Matthew 24:11- 13)

Yes it is necessary, because there are so many wrong teachings and wrong doings in the world that have impacted the lives of many and caused them to lose faith in God. However the verse above tells us all that the ones who are able to remain faithful to the end will be saved!

Humans are eternal beings and since life continues on after death it is of utmost importance that everyone prepares themselves for that crucial time. At the same time God doesn’t want to instill fear in your hearts, in fact He wants us to know that we have love, hope and peace in Him who has overcome the world, and that we through Jesus Christ can overcome all obstacles as well.

The Battle within Ourselves and within our Minds

“Sometimes I say to myself, “I will forget about him.I will not speak anymore in his name.” But when I say that, his message is like a fire burning inside me!It feels like it is burning deep in my bones!I get tired of trying to hold his message inside.

And finally, I am not able to hold it in. 10 I hear people whispering against me.Everywhere, I hear things that frighten me.Even my friends are speaking against me.People are just waiting for me to make a mistake. They are saying, “Let us lie and say that he did something bad.Maybe we can trick Jeremiah. Then we will have him.We will finally be rid of him. Then we will grab himand take our revenge on him.”11 But the Lord is with me.He is like a strong soldier. So those who are chasing me will fall. They will not defeat me.They will fail. They will be disappointed. They will be ashamed, and they will never forget that shame.

(Jeremiah 20: 9-11)

Jeremiah was a great man of faith and was called to share the Word of God buthe struggled at times within himself and wanted to forget God. He questioned himself when he heard the whispers of people surrounding him and he felt pressure from people who were waiting for him to do something wrong. “But he was faithful until the end and now we see the book of Jeremiah recorded in the Bible” shared Mun.

“If you are a Christian everybody looks at you” she said. Sometimes Christians might think “It’s probably better to be a non-Christian!” So there would be less pressure on them to always do right. “Christians cannot purchase the lottery, they can’t divorce, or even say something wrong, because people will find the time to point out their faults, but non- Christians can do anything they want” she said. Munshared that Christians are likened to a big car such as a Mercedes or a Ferari. If these cars happen to break down at the side of the road, many would stop to look and wonder what happened while with a smaller car such as a Kancil no one would bother.

“We should be proud of ourselves that everybody wants to look at us… but of course our maintenance is very high too!” she said. We have to maintain ourselves at all times but surely you will never regret being a Christian. “…because you know that if you are Christian you are a child of God, that God holds your future, He will never put you to shame, and He will never forsake you!” said Mun with conviction.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.

(Hebrews 11: 1-40)
