Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)
There is a universal absolute truth that can set you free if you are humble and teachable. God is the Ultimate reality. Life has meaning and purpose – death is not the end. As long as men tries to prove himself clever than his creator, the lies of the devil will always find its way into his human reasoning – into his human rational thinking and into his human dependency.
Secular humanism emphasizes human potential and self-fulfilment to the point of excluding all need for God; it is a naturalistic philosophy based on reason, science, and end-justifies-the-means thinking
TODAY’S WORLD IS CHASING A FORM OF GOD THAT WOULD SUIT THEM
What “a form of godliness” does to people is that it is a deception that allows them to set lower standards for their lives than that which is acceptable by God. It allows people to justify their character traits, make excuses for their selfish lifestyles, live in sin, and ridicule the believers of the truth
Paul is writing to the Colossian church in Col.2:8-10
8Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. 9For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
THE ENEMY HAS INFLICTED A COLOSSAL DAMAGE TO GOD’S CREATION.
Jesus said when you know the truth, the truth will set you free. (John 8:32)
Unfortunately we take what is happening around us for granted; we live our lives desensitized to damage control out there. Many Christians do not understand the POWER of DECEPTION the enemy is using today to drag people away from the truth. We are not aware of how this power of darkness have subtly and unconsciously penetrated and infiltrated the human mind and the churches today. Did you ever wonder why there is such a high moral decline, society heading on a downhill today despite the highly civilized world we are living in? There is so much of tolerance and compromise in the name of love that there is tremendous erosion in the ethical and moral standards of God in society today.
The apostle Paul is giving a warning here to the church in Colossi to be aware of the philosophy of deception. The tradition of man. It’s the mindset or thinking of man, it’s how the world goes about accepting the secular thinking which is not in line with the word of God but rather inclined to copy a crowd that runs with a trendy lifestyle.
Least any man robs you of the truth that Jesus has already given you – your identity! And so Paul is here warning the church to be careful, to be aware of this powerful deceptive spirit, this dangerous spirit. A powerful worldly spirit that is demonized and backed up by Satan.
He is saying you are complete in Christ. No man should rob you or spoil you of what Jesus has already given you. This is your identity, purchased through the death of Jesus Christ.
YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE SUSTAINED
2 Peter 1:3: His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence,
It says Jesus has given us all things that pertain to life and Godliness. All your provision is complete in Christ. We are already healed, we are already prosperous, we are already victorious. We are already fully complete according to the fully accomplished work, the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
IF IT IS AVAILABLE THEN IT IS AT YOUR DISPOSABLE TO APPROPRIATE.
IS IT TOO HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE TO ACCEPT THIS AS TRUTH?
The problem with people is that their mindset is so tuned up to the kind of thinking that they will literally refuse to accept anything too good and too free to be true. Therefore they always want to kick into a performance mood to earn their blessings from God. They say, I have to struggle! I have to prove! I have to earn! My worthiness before God. They don’t understand no matter how much they struggle, no matter how much they try to perform and earn they can never reach the mark of acceptance until they come through the righteousness of Jesus who paid it all on the cross for them. Thus they will live all their lives under guilt and condemnation and never find a true relationship with God.
THERE WAS A DIVINE EXCHANGE THAT TOOK PLACE ON THE CROSS; IT WAS A DONE DEAL!
Now let me put it to you in a different way: If it’s too hard for you to accept your healing and wellbeing as a done deal. If you cannot accept it as the truth, you are simply rejecting the finished work of God’s son Jesus Christ. You are going to struggle all your life through because you are unable to tap into your inheritance of your promise.
The whole truth of reality is that we are justified, we are sanctified and we are made holy and righteous by Jesus having paid the price for us. This is a done deal! This is the absolute truth that we need to appropriate in our lives. We need to walk daily in this truth and live a life of fullness in Christ no matter what the trials we may face in our lives.
And Paul is saying this is your inheritance, this is your promise: don’t let this truth be stolen from you by the empty high sounding philosophy of this world. Although you cannot escape from shielding yourself from the philosophy of this world because you are from this world! As long as we live in this world we are going to be bombarded by the philosophy of this world daily. But because you are not of this world the blood of Jesus and the word of your testimony will keep you rooted and grounded in Christ.
