Pastors Samuel and Angela: From the Broadways of Life unto a Life of Grace Together

There is an amazing story of Grace in the lives of a Sabah couple, Samuel Raj and Angela Golingi – they were saved from the broadways of life both in 1973.  Though living an ocean apart, they became pastors and missionaries together and returned to Malaysia together.

Pastors Samuel, who hailed from Kluang, Johor and Angela met in Sandakan, Sabah.

They are grandparents of four, committed to 18 years of preaching the Gospel in Johore Bahru, Kuching, Brunei Darussalam, Uganda, British Guyana and South America.

“Our greatest miracle is receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord.

We have seen many people delivered from the power of darkness, marriages and relationships restored by the Lord,” said Angela.

“Our reward is the glorious joy to see, hear and know people whom we prayed for were healed of fatal diseases,” she added.

The couple is now pastoring the Grace Covenant Community A/G (Assemblies of God) church of 40 members at the Bundusan Commercial Centre, Penampang, near the capital city.

As missionaries, they were sent out by the Calvary Charismatic Centre, Singapore.

CCC, which is now known as Victory Family Centre Singapore, is a mission-oriented church which encourages all its members to fulfil Jesus’ command, called the Great Commission, to His disciples after He was raised from the dead recorded in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 28: 18, 19 & 20.

“All power is given unto Me in heaven and earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”.

They chose missions because of the compelling love of God to save souls worldwide from the power of Satan to the power of God.

“We moved with obedience and passion to serve the Lord Jesus, and to see churches established in every country,” Angela said, taking their children Danialla and Noah with them.

True to Biblical passion, they gave away their cars and home, to “live in suitcases”.

“Going to far away mission fields, we lost out on family happenings..weddings of relatives, birthdays and even funerals.

“Sam couldn’t attend to his mum’s funeral, it’s part of sacrifice, painful, but he is comforted by the grace of God.”

Having pastored together for 33 years, they are now serving the Lord Jesus unreservedly, passionately teaching and preaching the Gospel of Grace in order to see the people’s eyes opened to their true condition described in Acts 26: 18 – in the words of the Lord Himself :

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and  inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith in Me.”

“It is a thrill to proclaim the glad, happy news that God loves all people of every tribe in the universe, His face is turned toward every child of God and He holds nothing against His beloved.

When we know the unmerited love of the Father towards us, serving Him will be pure joy.”

Adding to this, their message to those lost without believing in Jesus as the Son of God who gave His life as a ransom for our sins is:

God loves you and His love for us has nothing to do our loveliness nor our behaviour, whether good or bad.

He simply loves us because He is Love.
